India's batting display was outstanding as they won the Women's T20 World Cup by 82 runs, exacting revenge for their Asia Cup defeat to Sri Lanka. With their NRR- boosting victory in the Dubai International Stadium, India's chances of qualifying for the semifinals increased as their Net Run Rate surpassed those of New Zealand. On the other side, after losing three straight games, Sri Lanka was eliminated.
India set a huge goal of 172/3, driven by strong performances from skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (52* off 27), Smriti Mandhana (50 off 38), and Shafali Verma (43). With a 98-run opening partnership, Indian openers Verma and Mandhana established a strong platform. Harmanpreet's aggressive stroke play ensured that India finished strong with the highest total in the competition thus far, despite a couple of early dismissals.
Up against it, Sri Lanka was unable to overcome early wicket losses as their batting order was destroyed by Renuka Thakur, Shreyanka Patil, Asha Sobhana, and Arundhati Reddy. India performed excellently in the field, with Radha Yadav making a highlight-worthy catch. India won their biggest T20 World Cup victory by runs as Sri Lanka fell to 90 all out in 19.5 overs.
